The Rodanthe-Waves Salvo, NC Community Center has been the venue for the NCBBA Annual Meeting festivities for may years. NCBBA is grateful for the use of this facility and thanks the people of the tri-villages for their hospitality.
Long time member, and veteran, Wayne Mathis #91helped us honor America for the Pledge of Allegiance. Director Mike Metzgar #5559 leads the nearly 100 in attendance with the Pledge.
NCBBA signed up several new members at the Annual Meeting and Pig Picking.........are your dues current? We need your help in fighting for "free and Open Access".
Treasurer Brenda Outlaw #3169 and Joyce Joyner #11454 greet members and guests and distribute tickets and provide information about the days' events.
The meeting was called to order by President Jim Keene with a large crowd in attendance.
Director Mike Metzgar presents the NCBBA $2000.00 dollar Dare County, NC continuing education scholarship to Evan Andrews from Manteo High Shool.
Director Mike Metzgar presents the NCBBA $2000.00 dollar Dare County, NC continuing education scholarship to Jonathan De Lucia from First Flight High School.
Director Mike Metzgar presents the NCBBA $2000.00 dollar Dare County, NC continuing education scholarship to Laken Tinsley from Cape Hatteras Secondary School.
Director Mark Burbic #12404, Presents the Fishing Tournament Awards and the Angler of the Years award.
Director Mike Metzgar presents the NCBBA $2000.00 dollar Members, Members Children continuing education scholarship to Mitchell Cady who attends the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, NC.
The largest fish caught at the Annual Russ Privett Tournament was by Steve Knowles #6124.
The Angler of the Year is Dennis Newton #11368 who has recorded citation fish in several categories. Dennis could not attend the Annual Meeting and his plaque will be mailed to him. It was accepted by President Jim Keene.
Director Mark Burbic presents a special fishing award to Danny Fletcher #13769. Danny Fletcher was the winner of the Largest Red Drum Overall at the 2009 Annual Red Drum Tournament. All Red Drum caught were released alive at the tournament.
The Brian Edwards Memorial Trophy for the Russ Privett Memerioal Tournament was presented to Mr. John Newbold in appreciation of the time and talent he has given to NCBBA over the past 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards presented this award to John as there were no Junior Members who caught a fish in the tournament.
Mrs. Edwards speaks about the sudden loss of their son Brian and his love of fishing. They present the Brian Edwards Memorial Trophy to the Junior Member winner of the Russ Privett Fishing Tournament.
Pesident Keene presents the guest speaker for the Annual Meeting, CHNSRA Superintendent Mike Murray.
The election results are presented by NCBBA Secretary and Nominating Chair Tracey Oates.
NCBBA President Keene welcomes the newly elected Officers and Directors. New Secretary Dottie Broadbent #12666, Returning Director Pete East #2928, and New Director Rod Palmer #12252.
President Keene passes the gave to newly elected NCBBA President David Joyner #5678. President Joyner acknowledges the 10 years of tireless dedication of Jim Keene as President and noted his many accomplishments to the large audience of members and guests. A plaque commemorating the passing of the gavel was presented to Jim Keene.
A special presentation from the NCBBA Board was given to Jim as a remembrance of the appreciation shown by the Board of Directors. The gift was a custom wrapped fishing rod and with Jims NCBBA plate number wrapped in the rods hand grip. The rod was custom made by Ryan White, owner of Hatteras Jack custom rods.
A special presentation from the NCBBA Board was given to Past President and Mr. NCBBA, John Newbold, as a remembrance of the appreciation by the Board of Directors. The gift was a custom wrapped fishing rod and with Jims NCBBA plate number wrapped in the rods hand grip. The rod was custom made by Ryan White, owner of Hatteras Jack custom rods. John has served NCBBA for over 30 years in virtually every capacity.
Receiving the thanks of Presiden Joyner, Jim Keene passes the Presidency and extends his appreciation for the fine remembrances of this occasion. Jim Keene will continue as a seated member of the Board of Directors as Past President. Jim will aslo be our delegate to CHAPA and will continue his position as MCBBA delegate to the "Access Coalition". We will continue to be in good hands with both men.
Prior to the meeting Jim Keene presents a symbolic check for $2,000.00 to the NPS continuing our support of children and the Seashore Ranger program in the Park.
President Joyner extends his appreciation for the personal friendship and awesome dedication to NCBBA by John Newbold. John was the devils advocate for many NCBBA projects and guided the Board as past president with all of the sincerity and care a father would give to his children . As a Board of Directors we are better people, and have better vision of many issues due to the involvement of John Newbold in NCBBA. You are and awesome friend and associate to this organization on many levels.
Friends and now both Past Presidents exchange well wishes after the Annual Meeting.
Next comes the fun part.............good food, good friends and lots of fun! The meal was catered by BJ's Carolina Cafe from Jarvisburg, NC and music from 'Old Soul' Chris Doolan and Dale Henderson.
Our Ladies always do a fantastic job selling the NCBBA Merchandise. From the left are Sharon Newbold #4593, Georgette Keene #13149, Jeanne Flanigan #7596 and a new addition this year Glenna Dimig #12805. The ladies make this happen and we are grateful for their support!
The 'live' auction offered several valuable items donated by our members and many businesses on the Outer Banks. The small fish chair was donated by a great friend of NCBBA "Skip" Joule. The Original Lighouse print was donated by long time NCBBA member Wayne Gless #101,Artist Jay Antol donated a framed print named "The Point at Cape Hatteras. The auctioneer was NCBBA member Wes Pace #11706.
OBPA presented their information at the Pig Picking and signed up quite a few new members.
